It Gets Better...

"It Gets Better".  A simple enough phrase.  I've heard my dad say it most all of my life.  It always seems to conjure up one of my infamous eye rolls & sarcastic sideways smiles, but it still has a way of resonating.  The mind wanders.."Does it?"  ..does it really get better?  I think it must.  I guess we eventually grow into ourselves & learn to relax in the moments of an imperfect life.
All I know for sure is,  I'm still trying, everyday constantly learning.  Striving to be better.
I definitely hope we get bolder as we get older, stronger as life shapes us into the
beautifully bruised who's we will become ;)

While visiting home recently I watched as my 3 yr old nephew tumbled over with a thud & a bump to the head.  As he cried uncontrollably, my dad swooped him up, rubbed his head & hugged him..
 "It Gets Better"  he said
aww
I guess it really does

 Vogue Knows
( Lyrics by Birdee Bow)

Glamour Mag says it's So Bad..to let you know I'm down
& Cosmo says Tres'Modern girls should never wear a frown
& I'm quite sure that Vogue Knows...when they say it's a fact  (vogue knows)
You're gonna lose a lot at love...you gotta keep your self respect

Fallin' on My face I found the Light
I'm Finally feelin' alive

Startin' to Shake This
Shakin' Off The Darkness
Fallin' on my face I found the Light
I'm Finally feelin' alive

Some have said they saw bright white..when they were near the end

But don't you think we should live in the light much earlier than then??

And I'm quite sure that Vogue Knows..when they say it's the Truth
The BEST COLOR in the whole wide world
is the one shinin' bright on you

& Fallin on My face I found the Light
I'm Finally feelin' alive

Startin' to Shake This
Shakin' off The Darkness
Fallin' on my face I found the Light
I'm Finally feelin' alive

Startin to Shake This
Shakin' off the Darkness

Comin' Back Stronger, Unafraid to Fight
I'm Finally feelin' alive

Run Run
Don't Let Anyone Steal Your light...
Run Run
Cut Yourself Free
& Run
You're Finally Feelin' Alive

Startin' to Shake This
Shakin' off the Darkness

Fallin' On MY face I found the light
I'm Finally feelin' alive

Startin' to Shake This
Shakin' off the Darkness
Comin' Back Stronger Unafraid to Fight
I'm finally feelin' alive

Comin' Back Stronger Unafraid to Fight
I'm finally feelin' alive

Kaleidoscope Heart

"It's useful being top banana in the shock department. "
                                        Holly Golightly
It's no secret that I'm an Audrey Hepburn fanatic.  It's the sort of adoration that some might refer to as an obsession;), but before anyone out there plans an intervention of sorts please be well aware that I'm happily rooted in my obsession of not only The Hepburn but of all things yesteryear.  This morning while watching Breakfast at Tiffany's I was stopped dead in my tracks by Holly Golightly's "mean reds" dialogue:

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul Varjak: Sure.
Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that'd make me feel like Tiffany's, then - then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

What if the mean reds can become more than just a passing feeling of fear, but more like a continuation of infinite dilemma?  I certainly never wanna get so warmly satisfied within the mean reds that I accept them as a way of life.  Oh, the blues are indeed tough to handle, but shaking them off is somehow built into us, a force of second nature....the Mean Reds?  Those have a way of sneaking into the structure of things, avoidance for the sake of avoiding. I think the Mean Reds have a chameleon style ability to appear powerful & in control when really they're just FEAR double dipped in chocolate & masked in expensive lipstick...

Here's to leaving the mean reds on the hanger & rockin'some Kaleidoscope heart today
