Getting caught in a torrential downpour yesterday afternoon about 12 blocks from my destination & completely unprepared, I immediately began to run. It's the initial response I assume..seek shelter & get to dry ground, but as I began running I suddenly realized how much I really didn't want to run. I realized I really just wanted to saunter along in each puddle filled footstep, taking it all in. As I tried to catch the beat & the rhythm of the rain, I imagined myself to be Debbie Reynolds being courted by Gene Kelly, dancing upon lightposts & sidewalks in perfect fashion. Each cold drop that hit my skin felt like invigoration, newness, freedom & surprise...the great kind of surprise, like when you come home in 5th grade & there's a birthday party waiting for you along with your favorite frosted cake.   These magical drops hitting my nose, seemingly all powerful, as if they were joining small forces to create great impact. Little advisers falling from the sky  to jolt me & remind me that
"yep, you're alive in this moment. This is your  life.  Do you feel it? Are you gonna breath it in?"

This summer is becoming my all time favorite.  Ok maybe I've said that before but this one is trumping all those others..no really I mean it this time. It's an undeniable fact & the full on *happy dance* effect. Beautiful friendships, dancing til dawn, creating music to make you shake it like you mean it & meeting new beautiful faces who inspire me to achieve great things.
  I absolutely LIVE for the unexpected.  And Lately?

 I've unexpectedly been on Cloud 9 ... fully immersed in ecstatic experience.  And As far as clouds go,  

It seems to be the best one to visit.

One Step forward & Two Steps Tango

  I've always been a big fan of the  forward motion movement. Y'know head strong in the pursuit of the goal.  I have two speeds: over-drive pedal to the medal & complete collapse into the sleep coma.  Never a fan of the whole  1 step forward & 2 steps back mantra.  In fact, the very "oh no we're losing ground' concept has been known to put me into denial & annoyance mode giving me the heebie jeebies & full on panic attacks.  But lately? Lately I have a whole new understanding.  Lately I'm learning the steps I've been rushing to scan over may have been the most beautiful, creative & rewarding ones all along.  The super slow ones headed in a backward  direction.  The ones that gently nudge you into rewind slow mo.  I think it's life's way of asking us to dance a beautiful tango.

When you Talk I just Watch Your Mouth...

Sometimes, when reading alone, I cannot resist the urge to stop, re-read & then read again.  Moving my lips along to the words to fully capture the moment of a particularly intriguing passage.

Maybe it's the performer in me, feeling as though it's my duty to "act it out" in order for the full plot to be realized.  YES completely laughable but completely true. Ok, so this crazy little personal tidbit started my thinking about lips in general & the way I am mesmerized by speech,  the way we move our mouths, purse our lips, y'know express ourselves.  So much, in fact, that all too often I miss the actual words being spoken to me. Lost in the translation, but ever present in the emotion.
After, all isn't the unspoken energy sometimes the most important part?
 
Ok, so maybe when receiving instructions about how to use the oxygen mask or the floating device in the occurrence of a loss in cabin pressure we should all really try to concentrate & follow along. And Let's not even get into my deficits in taking, finding (most times losing) direction.
 Hey, I'm working on it.
